45-day war collapsed Armenia - military expert

The 45-day war ended up with the complete victory of Azerbaijan and the capitulation of Armenia. During this period, the Azerbaijani Army liberated about 300 villages, 5 cities, 4 settlements, and numerous strategic heights. In the battles, Armenia’s military equipment was completely destroyed, and a severe damage was inflicted on its manpower. Thus, the Azerbaijani Army destroyed the Armenian army. The opposite side reminds of unruly groups that have no unified command and have lost their ability to resist.

The statement came from military expert Rashad Suleymanov while commenting on the recent developments regarding the Karabakh war, Azvision.az reports.

“Azerbaijan has forced Armenia to kneel and capitulate, liberating the pearl of Nagorno-Karabakh, Shusha, and more than 70 villages and eight strategic heights within a day. The current dire and tense situation inside Armenia, as well as the growing protests against Pashinyan, prove this. In comparison, the signing of the declaration by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev, the mood of the Azerbaijani people, the joy of holiday clearly demonstrates who the winner is and who the loser is,”  Suleymanov said.

The military expert said that the Armenian army had lost a great part of its arsenal of weapons and equipment from the beginning to the end of the fighting.

According to him, the Azerbaijani Army has destroyed most of Armenia’s ammunition depots and reserves, and its military infrastructure with millions of dollars invested for years.

"Armenia will not be able to recover from this damage in the next 25-30 years. Armenia's military budget, state budget, and foreign debt are obvious. These are not ordinary figures. In this regard, the damage caused to them is enormous. Once full control is taken over the liberated territories, it will be clear exactly how much equipment has been destroyed. In 44 days, Armenia lost the weapons and equipment it acquired for 30 years. It is impossible to compensate for it in the next 30 years.

Thus, Armenia has to rebuild its army in the coming period. It has huge losses among its military resources as well. Will the poor economy allow them to buy new weapons and equipment? Among the equipment destroyed in the battles were those used for the first time. The repellent radio-electronic combat system, Tor-M2KM anti-aircraft missile system (ZRK), and others are examples of it. Each of these was used in the battles for the first time. The Azerbaijani Army destroyed each of Armenia’s equipment it acquired in recent years. Besides, a few expensive S-300 systems were also destroyed. In short, a wide range of weapons systems of Armenians, from small arms to ballistic missiles, were destroyed or taken as booty. Armenia suffered losses in these battles in all categories. They lost manpower, artillery, mortars, radio reconnaissance vehicles, and ballistic missiles. At present, they will not be able to replace it with anything,” Suleymanov said.

The military expert noted that Nikol Pashinyan has begun to acknowledge the heavy losses and the problems they would cause.

"They acknowledge that if the war continued for a few days, they would be completely destroyed. They were already on the verge of a tragedy. Armenia’s losses in equipment and vehicles are estimated at more than $ 3 billion. These figures will be known more precisely during the inventory. This is a disaster for Armenia. It is impossible to restore it in the near future. Thus, the military and political collapse of the Armenian side has started,” stressed the military expert.
